Crypto: The Game Companion Podcast, Day 3: Backstabbing Begins, Worm Games, Hostile Takeovers, and Purple Team Dominance with Ted Not Lasso

Spicy evening we had here and we have a lot to talk about tonight. We have a lot to cover tonight. I'd say the big story from the day is that the backstabbing has begun. There has been two nights that immunity was possible from taking an action on social media. [01:00] that kept things pretty tame for the first two nights of the game. But that immunity ran out today and the knives are out. A few high profile players have been cut, including one from my team. There's some two timing that's happening with a non players working two teams or multiple teams, allegedly. We'll get into that on tonight's show. But first, the vote results. Do you want to walk us through what just happened with the vote? [01:27] I do. First of all, purple team won immunity, which is my team. Thank you. We're going to have on Ted, not Lasso, Ted from Farcaster on who is also on the purple team.

[01:40] to talk about how we won and how we were safe from the vote tonight. Elsewhere, it was a bloodbath. 123 players were voted off tonight. Each team had to vote off 12 players. So we're left with 571 players. It's starting to get real, starting to get very real. [01:58] And I felt like for the first time today, [02:02] some competitive energy. I was like, okay, we're in it. We're all, we're all starting to get juiced. [02:08] Um, I will say I have been feeling that a little bit too. Um, though today's challenge was an arcade game, which historically is not my strong suit. So struggled a bit. This is not, this is not my area of strength. I was worried for you. I was very worried for you. You should have been, and you should be. So the worm is a play on the classic snake arcade game. Uh, [02:30] I like to call it the carpal tunnel special because it's brutal on the wrists. Dylan had shared that 12,000 rounds of worm was played. [02:40] 260 combined hours of zero productivity for the crypto industry in gameplay. So we'll get into all of this today, but some love for our pod partners. Won the immunity challenge today. Tell us about the day. Tell us about how you got the win. Let's start there. [04:16] Purple team... [04:17] I like impinching myself. At first I was like, oh, crypto the game whenever. And then when I saw a, the first person I saw on the team list was Natasha and I lost my shit. I was like, okay, I'm playing this game. I literally was like, okay, that was the moment I was like, I'm playing. And so I think everyone is like off the momentum of a first day, just like burning everyone to the ground. And then yesterday we lost the immunity challenge. So today we wake up

[04:47] And so I wake up at like 6 a.m. Everyone is just in the chat already, like ready to go. Very active. Very, very active. And then when we found out it was Snake, I feel like within 10 minutes, [04:59] There was a full strategy. Like everyone knew exactly what we were going to be doing. And the only thing we didn't know was how good people would actually be at Snake. And then we just executed on the strategy throughout the entire day. Okay, let's talk about the strategy. What did you guys do? Well, straight off the bat, we like only had, we knew that the average score would happen. Like the average score would be what determines it. And so we were at an advantage because we already voted out all of, like not all of them, but most of the non-actives. [05:29] And so from there, we were like, OK, we just need to focus on everybody else. [05:35] And then I think it was , she was like, OK, but there are people out there who might not know about the Telegram group. So we had one person go and like try and source all the people out there who might just be like on their own in the purple tribe and bring them in so we could. Yeah, I know. Like we really like it was I was like, oh, my gosh, like. [05:55] I don't think everyone did, though. I think other people would be like, I'm leaving you for dad. Totally. [05:59] And then the other strategy was basically like, OK, who's the best at this? And I remember being like, you know, me a little little bold being like, if I'm really good at this, you guys should just like send me your NFTs and I'll do the game for you and then we can send them back. [06:12] And I'm not good at the game, by the way. Like, I am not good at it. Like, as soon as I played, I was like, I am not the person to do this.

[06:19] But... [06:20] We have three phenomenal, phenomenal snake players who ended up just playing like on repeat. Like we would send an NFT, they would play the game, get a new high score, send it back. And we were just running this whole thing around. Wow. Yeah, there's two main things that the success is incredibly. [06:41] operationally proficient group where we've got [06:45] It's like plan, pinned, planned, pinned, and people are like tracking and following along. And then also people really trust each other. Like people, everybody was sending and it was like NFT received, NFT being sent back. It was incredible. [06:59] Yeah. [07:00] The fact that... Well, also we have Jordan from Once Upon... [07:03] on our team too. And so he's just sending all of the transactions from Once Upon. Like our entire links feed is just like Once Upon. I don't know what Once Upon is. Once Upon is like [07:12] an ether scan or base scan alternative okay but it's a lot more intuitive and has like social context clues so it's just like okay i understand i understand yeah there's also one person who i know is on your team and i believe they are playing anonymously that is a data [07:28] and systems and processes wizard. And so I feel like they're a real secret weapon. Oh, huge, huge weapon. That honestly, like, I think I could see them take it all the way to the end. [07:43] Oh, yes. I think so, too. [07:44] Yes, yes. And has like a lot of other stuff in [07:48] in their life going on too. And then all of a sudden pops back in and is like, hey, redid the entire spreadsheet. Here's the updated things. Here's what we need to. And I'm like, how did you do that? It's so funny because this person has been a part of Boys Club since basically like

[08:04] maybe week one and I have benefited from their talents for years and to see it recognized in this group of people has been like heartwarming for me I'm like this is amazing so hashtag proud yeah truly um okay Ted I want to understand your role on team purple so what's your player persona are you the spreadsheets guy are you moral support rally you're so positive and optimistic maybe [08:34] paranoid always worried about the spies like what's your vibe oh i will say this morning i was paranoid somebody new joined the group and immediately i was like who are you oh we've got some we've got some serious paranoia coming from from and you don't hide it you're not hiding it at all you're like um you're new i'm like oh my gosh like cool yeah um feature or bug i'm just [09:04] But I don't know. I just feel like [09:07] I'm pretty positive and I'm just like, what can I do? How can I help? [09:11] and how can i be helpful yeah how can i be helpful i'm not good at snake but i can help figure out who are the best ones and then just make sure people know to send their nfts to them back you you also know you're a planner you came in and you were like okay if your score is below x here is what you do and then that was immediately pinned to the top of the chat and everybody was like okay we're doing it so you're you're organized this is your first season playing

[09:41] Has it been different from what you expected... [09:43] I did not expect to be so consumed by it. Like truly, I knew that everyone was like, I remember talking to Lee and she was like, I was like playing Pac-Man all day. And she basically said she was like completely unproductive. I remember you guys too. Like there was a video I saw and I was like, that would never be me. I was like, no way. Meanwhile, today, 9am playing snake in between every meeting snake, like inverting my screen display. Um, so I'm like fully consumed and I was laughing about it. And I was like, wow, I was like, you know, after during the voting, [10:13] I was just like cackling to myself being like I am that person now and I'm having so much fun like I don't know how else to describe it other than wow this feels like summer camp in a way and that you're just hanging out with like really awesome people and like it's kind of competitive but at the end of the day like [10:31] I don't actually, I mean, I do, I want to win. [10:34] Don't get me wrong. But if I don't win, I'm not going to, like, cry crocodile tears and, like, walk away. I'm just like, wow, this is so much fun. And you get to hang out with really cool people that you would probably not hang out with otherwise. So... [10:46] I feel like I already won. Oh, Ted. That's so sweet. Our team has a real kumbaya. There's a real kumbaya energy going on in our tribe right now. And that's easy when you have immunity. Everybody's like, I love you. I love you. I'm proud of you. And I'm like, OK, let's all remember this. [11:03] tomorrow i am resisting the urge from like every time i send something nice and like cheerful to being like in asterisks being like she says when everybody is safe like everybody

[11:14] Like, as soon as one person is on the chopping block, man, I... [11:19] I don't know. We'll see how we do. I do want to let you know, if you don't know this, in season one, one thing that happened, I don't know what night it happened, but the tribes [11:27] merged so I love the energy that you've [11:32] cultivated on the purple tribe there will come a day there's likely to come a day soon when [11:36] you guys will be ushered into a new formation and you're going to have [11:42] to deal with the outsiders and the new people and [11:44] That will be a process. [11:45] Yeah. [11:46] - It will, it will. But I do think that we have like a, [11:51] I don't know. [11:53] Ted, don't say too much. Don't say too much on this podcast. And having said that, I want to ask you, in our little corners of the internet, you are a public figure. So how do you feel like that's playing? Do you feel like that's playing to your advantage or disadvantage? Because for folks who don't know, [12:12] This is Ted on Farcaster. [12:13] this is ted of farcaster fame the most famous person so this that's what natasha speaking to here with this question um [12:22] Well, I'm actually playing Anon, which is hysterical. I didn't realize I was playing Anon because I was like, oh, you have to connect with Twitter and like classic Forecaster Maxie. I was like, I'm not going to do that. I want to connect with Forecaster. And so I just like ignored it. [12:37] thinking that there would be another option. And so now I'm actually a non. And so for like the first night, I actually almost got voted out because they were like, vote out all the non. And I was like, no, no, please. Oh, did we blow your cover here by by having you on? No, it's a disadvantage right now because I have to convince everyone. So you're it's like a hybrid strategy. It's.

[12:58] It's not a non, it's... It's just a mistake. Yeah. [13:04] Oh, I do want to talk about one thing that we didn't talk about yet. In the middle of our frenzy, [13:09] somebody drops this really weird nft from a crypto we should not talk about this you have to explain you have to explain okay so in the middle we're like at this point i think we're in second place we've had our strategy but like you know people are just coming slow coming slow to the chat and we're like trusting then all of a sudden we realize that silver cheats and we're like what is going on and we're like no no no they're cheating they're cheating this isn't gonna work then [13:32] from a crypto the game account, or at least that's the OpenSea account. Somebody drops this weird voice memo NFT that is a [13:43] Like it's a hooded purple figure. And it's in this really weird, you know, like hidden voice thing that's like, "We're the OGs and veterans of CDG. We broke the game before you plebs got to level two." [13:55] Sounds like cheating equals disqualification though. [13:59] So congrats on immunity yesterday, Silver. Commit us with love. [14:04] purple and we were all like what oh my god it was so weird and that was not the purple tribe your purple tribe [14:13] No. [14:15] No. No. Everybody was like, is this anybody? Like, everybody was like, is anybody in here doing this? And, like, really were, like, hoping that it wasn't. [14:24] And then on the side, Ted was like, I can't stop laughing. This is like basically the most cringe thing I've ever seen.

[14:30] I also was like who says come at us like [14:37] Who says that anymore? Or like, who says that? Okay, Ted, thank you so much for coming on. [14:42] This was so fun. So fun. Thank you. They're coming in, but we have a lot we need to cover already. So yes, let's, let's get into it. Okay. So one of the biggest tips that we got today was that a player is playing two teams. [15:30] simultaneously so they were playing the green and the silver tribe and the person that sent me the tip knows this or rather [15:39] suspects this because had submitted the correct answer to yesterday's question in the green tribe. But this happened literally one minute after the silver tribe, which was their other tribe, solved the puzzle and correctly answered it. So they are suspecting that he is playing both tribes. Now they have been eliminated tonight. So... [16:00] They flew too close to the sun, I fear. Too close to the sun. It brings up a bigger question around a non-traumatic.

[16:08] gameplay. I'd say that that's a big conversation that's happening today. Anon gameplay is new for season two. And in some ways, it really embraces the spirit of crypto because you could be playing with [16:21] Vitalik. You could be playing with Julia Fox. All of these people who are anon, you have no idea who they are. And so that's really exciting. It's really fun. But all of those people also could be double agents. Also, another risk with the anon players is the hostile takeover. So I'm on team gold. One thing that happened tonight is a very beloved player, Richie, who came in third in season one, got voted out tonight in what looks like a very coordinated vote. And then someone [16:51] were bought today and another one was bought yesterday. So it could be that someone wanted to come in, take Richie out, and they were able to do that because people are playing on and you're [17:01] spot on your team is tied to an NFT, which can be bought and sold. So I don't know, controversy, other stats from the season one top players, MFL won and is playing fully anon. Logos, who we talked to yesterday, the charmer, is not playing fully anon, but he didn't link his own Twitter. So that's kind of like a hybrid strategy. And then Richie was not playing anon. He was playing as himself [17:31] interesting strategies and it's interesting to see what's what's playing out. Okay, another hot goss from the Silver Tribe is there was a rogue cheater.

[17:41] who faked their score by basically... [17:45] altering the numbers on their score. And not that much interesting here, but I will say a lot of people were curious about it. Got quite a few DMs asking what happened. It's not that interesting. And their team rallied together and immediately voted them off. So that's what happened on silver with a rogue cheater. Another piece of hot goss is that I'm going to talk about the yellow tribe [18:15] someone from the Yellow Tribe. [18:17] essentially took out their most active players at the very last minute. They came into the chat. A new telegram came into the chat called I Spice entered the chat and stirred things up. Bloodbath with many friendlies eliminated and hostile takeover of the Yellow Tribe. So I got this from a few sources. And... [18:38] Then someone said, if you want to hit them up, this is their telegram. So I send them a message. [18:43] And I say, hello, seems like you're a chaos agent. [18:46] Weirdly enough, I have an outgoing call from this person and an incoming call from this person on March 1st. I don't know who this person is, though. March 1st, like last month? [18:56] March 1st, like last month. And then we're going back and forth a little bit here. And they said, I was getting hundreds of messages in the yellow chat. It was too many. I wanted to vote out the people sending all the message. Staged a little cabal uprising. [19:09] Nice. So... [19:10] so still don't know who this person is but we have called each other so at some point i did know who this person was wow so yeah crazy crazy stuff happening also there is another cabal chat that we're a part of that there is deals going down assassinations for assassinations enemies have been made on

[19:34] separate tribes and people are taking out hits, taking out hits in some of the cabals. [19:39] Yeah, eye for an eye. I'll take out this person for you if you take out this person for me. Which, honestly, you love to see. I love it. I love it. And it shows the strength of the cabal that we are in. A really wholesome story from Orange Tribe. Do you want to share? Yeah. [19:53] Yeah, so I got this message. Okay, so there was a lot of drama in the real world today with Uniswap and the SEC, you may have seen it, we will save that story in full for another podcast or perhaps newsletter. But needless to say, the Uniswap team was very busy today. And one of the members of the Orange Tribe is a lawyer at Uniswap. So they had a very busy day. And another tribe member offered to do their snake run for them. So [20:23] There was like a mechanism where you could send the NFT, which Ted talks about to someone else so that they can play the game for you and then send it back. And someone did that so that they didn't have a zero score, which is so sweet and so wholesome. So wholesome. I love it. There's a running theme throughout the day to balance out all the assassinations and drama and backstabbing of some real kumbaya, hold hands, work together. That is really heartwarming, truly heartwarming. [20:53] Japanese cabal. [20:54] though I was kicked out for being inactive. But in fairness, it was all in Japanese. So there was really little for me to do. But it was really thrilling when it happened when I was ushered in the door and then swiftly kicked out.

[21:14] So post of the day, our first post of the day is a hey.xyz post. [21:20] from someone named ErnestKu.eth. And it says when you really need that immunity on day three, and they have modded their laptop screen so that they've like put tape around the corners of the laptop screen to optimize for their gameplay of worm, which is really good. I love that also someone has posted that in our purple team chat. And Christian, who is so great and was doing [21:50] whatever it is called the challenge and he was like oh you could actually just go into the source code and change the colors and was like giving all these tips second post here got a text from an ex [22:01] at Crypto the Game. Hey, I know it's been a while. Haha. I saw that we're both on the green team. Can you play Snake in the next few hours? Our team needs you. So good. I love that one. That one's so funny. [22:13] So good. It's so good. And then final post here. This is a, it has crossover appeal. My boy after seeing Dune 2. And it's the person going through, [22:22] The theater in the makeshift dune snake. Incredible. Like costume machine.
